palm-pre-over-iphone

Meet the Palm Pre, the lifeline of Palm and probably Sprint as well. There has been a fairly large amount of buzz over this phone and part of that buzz comes from how much time and money has been spent on developing this advanced smart phone of the future. What’s so great about this phone one might ask? Let’s take a look at some of the specs and latest features:

  • Multitasking OS (can run multiple programs at once, unlike the iphone)
  • MMS messaging (can send images, audio, video via text messages)
  • Multi-touch commands (can zoom in or out by pinching)
  • Full Qwerty keyboard
  • Palm OS capable (can port in palm apps from previous palm phones)
  • 320 x 480 pixel screen (great for watching movies and Youtube)
  • 3 Megapixel camera with flash
  • 3.5 mm headphone jack
  • Wifi
  • GPS
  • 3G & more

The price for this cool new cell phone will be competitive and probably set at around $200-300 dollars with a 2 year plan. The release date for the Palm Pre seems to be somewhere around the middle of May, as all Sprint employees are not allowed to have any time off during that month. I don’t know about you, but I will be one of the first people in line when this phone gets released – for once I’ll get to be the “cool cat on campus”.

Looks pretty nice; im glad I held off on buying a new phone last year.

dude, i have one and the multi tasking alone is totally worth it. and yes, i am feeling like the cool cat wherever i am, especially when i see those ancient iPhones out there, I think ‘how 2006, gross.’ i can’t believe there are still people struggling over that lame touchscreen keyboard.

It will be interesting to see how this phone does with its rivalry with Apple. Looks promising for the Pre, at least for now.

besides that its a complete copy of a blackberry, Me and the rest 99% would go with the iphone, at leastt because of the many apps available out there

Not sure why it would be considered the hottest product of 2009 from CES if it was a duplicate of the blackberry. And i sure would hope that the iphone has more apps, seeing as how its been around for a couple of years already.

[...] from hotels and in airports). Smartphone A smartphone, whether it’s a BlackBerry, iPhone, or a Palm Pre, can be one of the biggest and most effective productivity tools that allows you to work remotely [...]

I’ve had my Pre given that shortly after launch and am glad to find (by means of this forum) that I can now set a ring tone on incoming text messages and can seek by way of e-mails and this kind of. Now is there any hope for an upcoming launch in which I can lookup my calendar? Would make my work significantly less complicated, obtaining dates of last appointments. No other complaints, except that yesterday I was in and out of Sprint support (not unusual). I consider I was roaming, and looked at my calendar. Everything inside the calendar was a single hour earlier than what I had input. The clock was one particular hour early as properly. I had been scared to death–then, the moment we got back into Sprint provider once more, every thing was normalized. Has this happened to anyone else?? Shopping forward to answers, but please remember, I’m no techie and speak English as opposed to technospeak.
